Activities include learning about their cardboard construction kits, reading from some of our favorite superhero comics and film scripts and learning how to analyze words, images and color schemes to incorporate back into their drafts and models. Participants will be challenged to build the interior and exterior of a place inspired by their favorite superhero, incorporating many of the concepts being taught. Campers will also create a world around an invented superhero and villain or enhance existing superheroes and villains by filling out their idea books with sketches and notes that campers will then turn into logos and blueprints for their next build. Campers will construct an environment that a superhero needs to protect their city that will even incorporate real LED lights by learning circuitry techniques. Schedule Overview:
The week begins with campers getting to know one another, learning the basic schedule for each day, discussing safety protocols and proper tool usage, then jumping into our creative activities. Participants will learn about color coding, sequencing and how our robots work on the first day. One of the first activities to kick off the week will be playing actual games and discussing what makes games fun and challenging. Kids will then be given challenges using their robots to play individually and collaborate with their peers to implement their coding skills. Once campers have established a strong foundation of how their robot works and the basics of color coding, they will learn paper and cardboard construction techniques to be used when creating 3D environments and obstacles that the robots will have to be programmed to navigate and interact with. Children will then design and play sports and board games using their robots to understand further how to code to complete challenges. To culminate the week, kids plan out their very own game infusing their knowledge of gaming, 3D construction and coding, which their robots will be able to play. Campers will end the week with newfound confidence in color-coding skills, experience in basic project planning and execution, improved spatial relations and fine motor skills and an enhanced understanding of robotics’ role in games. To celebrate everyone’s accomplishments, participants will reflect upon their experience, share their creations with their friends and receive a certificate of completion.

Animal Science
Did you know robotics is an important part of the role of robotics in zoology! During this class, campers will Embark on a journey to learn to use a robot, how to color-code, how to create 3-D structures to create an environment that robots can interact with by going to the depths of the ocean to the Sahara, to discover the incredible wildlife throughout the world. Kids will learn the basics of robotics by building 3D paper models of various environments and creatures, and then coding their robot to interact with their creations.
With a combination of coding concepts, art and creativity, your future scientist will learn how robotics plays a role in this zoology, and how current research impacts everyday life. Let’s dive in! This is a screen free camp.
Skills learned in Animal Science

Along with learning about their robots and coding, campers will explore the habits and behaviors of land and sea animals especially when it comes to migration. They will then incorporate their color-coding skills and knowledge around animal migration to create migrating patterns that mimic different animals behavior using their robots.
Once campers develop an understanding of how their robot works and the basics of color coding. They will learn paper and cardboard construction techniques to be used when creating 3-D environments that the robots will be able to navigate and interact with. After learning about a variety of construction techniques, campers will move on to learning Blockly coding which will use tablets to program their robots instead of color coding. While learning Blockly coding campers will continue to explore the animal kingdom, learning about different species and creating their habits and participating in fun challenges like creating 3-D mazes for their classmates. As culmination to the week, campers will plan and construct their own zoo that will incorporate all their skills, from animal knowledge, to 3D construction to blockly coding. Campers will leave this program having gained confidence in their newfound color-coding and Blockly skills, as well as experience in basic project planning and execution, improved spatial relations, fine motor skills, and an improved understanding of animal science. Animal Adventures
Did you hear about the robo-squirrel that scientists used to see whether a wagging motion of their tail could keep rattlesnakes at bay? Or what about the mechanical bee that helped guide colony members to nectar and pollen supply, helping to save the species? “Shark!” has a different ring to it when you know that it’s actually a rubbery crewless underwater vehicle, circling to keep divers out of harm’s way. In this program, kids learn the basics of robotics by building 3D paper models, then using our robot’s color-coding system. Robots will come to life to interact with creations that explore animal habitats and ecosystems. With a combination of art and creativity, your future scientist will learn how robotics plays a role in this vital branch of science and how current research of living organisms impacts our everyday ecosystems. Let’s dive in!

Fashion Bootcamp
Calling all fashionistas! Does your child dream of being the next great fashion designer or just want to have creative ownership of their style? Indulge their passion for fashion through this Boot Camp, where they’ll learn how to design, create and produce their own clothing line. This two-week course will teach fashion sketching, how to choose and work with a variety of fabrics and materials to get the right look, proper and safe use of a sewing machine and how to construct their designs. Throughout the week, campers will explore clothing development, design their own collection, shop for their materials and, of course, create a runway show as a finale. Many campers benefit from taking our Fashion & Machine Sewing Camp prior, but no experience is necessary to strut right in.
This is a 2 week program. Weeks of 7/18 and 7/25.
Skills Learned in Fashion Boot Camp:
- Fine motor skills include threading needles, making knots, seam ripping, pinning and proper scissor usage.
- Techniques such as safely operating and troubleshooting on a sewing machine, basics of hand sewing, how to read sewing patterns, how to choose a fabric, how to take measurements, draping, fashion sketching, earning the elements of design, altering and constructing garments from a pattern and proper finishing methods.
- Design processes include conceptualizing in 2D and 3D, researching, sketching, experimenting, construction, evaluating.
- Social and emotional skills such as patience, perseverance, building confidence and making friends.
- Cognitive skills such as thinking, concentration and focus.
Schedule Overview:
On the first day, campers will get to know one another, learn the schedule for the day and discuss safety protocols as well as the overall expectations of camp. Campers will begin the fashion design process by learning about inspiration, gathering their ideas and finding their own individuality, which will become the foundation of their collection’s concept. In finding inspiration, campers will learn to create mood and vision boards to help communicate their ideas. There will also be exercises in understanding silhouettes, proportions and different types of fabrics to help campers continue to bring their visions to life.
Once inspiration has been defined, campers will learn proper fashion drawing techniques using croquis and understand different fashion terminology. During this section, campers will produce renderings of their collection. By the end of the week, once conceptualizing and sketching wrap up and designs are approved, campers will make a shopping list to prepare for their shopping on Friday.
Once all materials have been acquired, campers will begin to construct their garments. Campers will either learn or have a refresher lesson on how to use a sewing machine. They will also start prepping their pattern and fabric. This course will include exercises on reading patterns, altering them and cutting and sewing fabrics. Once the prepping has been wrapped up, many campers will begin moving at a different pace. But no worries—our counselors will be working with each camper individually to help them while they begin to sew their garments together. The rest of the week is dedicated to sewing garments together.
Campers will continue their sewing and fittings and make any additional alterations. While working on their garments, campers will begin planning for the big finale, the fashion show, at the end of the week! Friday is all about the final touches, refining their boards, preparing for their fashion show, then it’s showtime. Campers will walk the runway in their designs, showing off their extraordinary accomplishments!

From there, campers jump into learning the fundamental of acting using stories as a foundation. Each day, campers will have a blast making new friends and will feel confident, proud, and excited with every high five and “good job!” moment, knowing they are mastering new skills.
Activities include reading and storytelling, games designed to exercise different acting approaches, building focus, movement, and improvisation. We will also explore other components of theater and storytelling, such as puppetry, prop building, and costume design.
At the culmination to the end of the week, campers will perform short skits utilizing the many skills they learned, after which they’ll receive a certificate of completion.
