Junior Counselor

Job Description

 Objective: A Junior Counselor supports Lead Counselor in facilitating camp activities and supervising campers. He/she is responsible for knowing the whereabouts of each camper in his/her charge at all times during camp hours. Represent The Handwork Studio in a positive manner with parents, campers, and within the community. 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Representation

  • Must represent the studio in an organized and professional manner
  • Must wear appropriate clothing and The Handwork Studio apron during camp hours
  • Will never engage in illegal or questionable activities during your term of employment
  • Will maintain a professional representation at all times when in engaging in social                  media
  • Has the ability to meet the public
  • Is patient, enthusiastic, self-controlled and dependable.
  • Has ability to work with others and follow directions.

 

 Staff Trainings/Orientation-

  • Attend  summer camp orientation program
  • Attend Mid-Camp check meeting
  • Will participate in set-up and break down of camp site
  • Attend Post Camp De-Briefing

 

Programming-

  • Demonstrates skills to include but not limited to: knitting, machine sewing, hand sewing & crocheting
  • Assists Lead Counselor with camp activities.
  • Participates in the supervision of campers.
  • Reports a camper’s absence from a camp activity immediately to the Lead Counselor.
  • Report all camper issues to the Lead Counselor
  • Observe campers daily for illness and/or injuries. Report any difficulties related to health immediately to the Lead Counselor
  • Report supply needs to the Lead Counselor
  • Ensure that all materials are being utilized effectively at his /her site (limited waste)
  • · Performs other duties as assigned.
